I am not affiliated in any way with the Tonner Doll Company,
American Girl, Hasbro, Only Hearts Club, or Mattel.
Padmé's Episode I Tatooine Handmaiden Disguise, which I am calling H-2 for simplicity's sake, has two versions.
The first is Hasbro's Beautiful Braids play doll, which I rather hate for several reasons. The arm bindings, which I
lost, are plastic and look stupid, the fabric on the blouse and pants is way too flimsy, and the boots/leg bindings are
too tight to get the pants tucked into, and I basically just don't like the whole thing. So I made my own version:
I made my blouse and tunic as separate pieces, unlike the Hasbro doll, and I also made the pants extra long,
because from looking at hi-res images of exhibit photos on padawansguide I decided that the pants actually show
below the leg bindings and above the boots. So that's how I built mine. It's still unfinished, though. The pants
aren't hemmed yet, and the belt needs some blouse fabric and a black and red button.
8-10-08: I hadn't finished the belt in the above pictures, so I did a new photo shoot yesterday, styling her hair as well.
She looks so good outside! I even found some black-eyed Susans growning in the backyard, and thought they made a
lovely setting for photographs.
